KINOTEKA STUDIO 2013

WORKSHOPS FOR WRITERS/DIRECTORS

ABOUT KINOTEKA STUDIO 2013

An intensive three days lab-based programme aimed at writer-directors who wish to move from shorts to features or who have made their first low-budget features. Ten selected writer-directors will have the opportunity to polish their skills in story development, pitching and directing actors during practical lectures, workshops and master classes with industry professionals, such as: Jan Harlan, David Pope, Agnieszka Holland, Wojciech Marczewski, Krzysztof Zanussi and other prominent Directors (names will be confirmed closer to the workshop date).  You will workshop your screenplay with professional actors, learn how to communicate effectively with actors to bring scenes to life, hear hints and tips on how to create dynamic screen performances and how to approach camera placement for maximum dramatic effect, how to get a world-class score for very little money and use music as a scripting tool.
Throughout the day there will be plenty of opportunity to network with film/TV industry professionals, and learn more about how to pitch your script to the industry.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST YOU?

The programme (workshops and masterclasses) is free to selected participants, but you will need to cover any accommodation and travel expenses (participants from Poland will have their travel and accommodation covered).

HOW TO APPLY?

Download the application form here
Please submit one page of screenplay involving a scene or scenes that have only two characters: a man and a woman, with dialogue, within the confines of one room (so please bear in mind the physical restrictions this will place on your story-telling).  Your story does not need to have a resolution to the scene/s presented as we appreciate that is very hard to achieve within two pages of screen-time, so you don’t necessarily need a punch-line or final twist, however, the audience will need to see that there is something ‘going on’ between your characters.
Use your imagination to let these constraints work for your story!
To recap you need to submit the following to apply:

1. One page synopsis of your feature

2. Your showreel and CV (can be a weblink)

1. 1-page of script: 2 characters, 1 location – interior, with dialogue (it can be a scene from you existing screenplay)
Please email the above listed materials to kinotekastudio2013@londonfilmacademy.com

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The deadline for submission is 4pm on Monday 18 February 2013. The ten selected writer-directors will be informed by email by 26 February 2013.
Organised in partnership with London Film Academy and Polish Cultural Institute, T-mobile New Horizons Film Festival in Poland.
